Job Summary: 

The Lead, Surveillance and Analytics for the execution of day-to-day task and projects related to Surveillance and Analytics function, including research, data analysis and deliverable development.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead the execution of research, data analysis and deliverable development for the following key activities:

  1. Assess the public health needs/gaps and data collection capacity and processes​ within Gulf-CDC member states.
  2. Collaborate with the Public Health Programs and Polices and Public Health Emergencies unit to identify disease or risk factor specific information essential to surveillance and analytics.
  3. Collaborate with external IT consultants to develop a regional surveillance and early warning system for the Gulf region.
  4. Work with the Manager, Surveillance and Analytics in the coordination among cross-functional teams (e.g. Knowledge Sharing and Translation, Public Health Programs & Policies, Data Governance and Policy) and Country-Level officials.
  5. Support the writing of Surveillance and Analytics reports and documents.
  6. Gather and analyze data for the tracking of Surveillance and Analytics key performance indicators.
    Qualification:
  7. A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a Bachelor’s degree or higher in the field of statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, epidemiology or related field with familiarity of disease epidemiology and surveillance.
  8. Nationality of one of the Gulf-CDC Member states.
    Experience:
  9. At least 2 years of professional experience acquired in positions relevant to the job description.
  10. Strong hands-on experience and skills in project management.
  11. Working experience from an international, multicultural setting.
  12. Experience in IT functions within the areas of public health, microbiology and/or bioinformatics.
    Competencies:
  13. Expertise in the field of statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, or related field with familiarity of disease epidemiology and surveillance and/or IT functions within the areas of public health, microbiology and/or bioinformatics.
  14. Excellent command of English and Arabic, both written and spoken.
