The Gulf Health Council launches an awareness campaign titled “It’s On You” to raise awareness about individual behaviors causing environmental health damage

The Gulf Health Council announced the launch of an awareness campaign titled “It’s On You” to highlight individual behaviors that cause environmental health damage among adults and youth. The aim is to raise awareness in the Gulf community to reduce such behaviors. The campaign’s slogan, #It’s_On_You, is inspired by the idea that every action has an equal and opposite reaction, meaning that any harm done to the environment will result in health and environmental damage to humans, as a consequence of hasty and incorrect decisions. Your decision regarding your environment is on you. The World Health Organization estimates that around 4 million people die annually due to diseases related to indoor air pollution. Studies also show that 50% of people ignore reading safe usage instructions for chemical cleaners, which can lead to the release of toxic gases harmful to both your health and your environment. Research indicates that green spaces help increase oxygen production and reduce temperatures, which in turn improves mental and environmental health. The campaign targets young adults and adults (aged 18 to 64) as the primary audience and includes government, private, and non-profit institutions, commercial activities, educational bodies, and the entire Gulf community as secondary audiences. The campaign includes several key products, such as main awareness videos, a behavioral test, field activations, and empowering awareness publications, in addition to supporting products through various means. This campaign aligns with the Gulf Health Council’s commitment to raising awareness about the importance of indoor air quality, promoting water conservation behaviors, raising awareness of the health risks associated with improper use of chemical cleaners, and encouraging afforestation behaviors. It focuses on improving public health, reducing environment-related diseases, and promoting environmental sustainability in the region. The Gulf Health Council launches an innovative test to assess food waste

The Gulf Health Council has launched a behavioral test aimed at reducing the negative impact and raising awareness about the behaviors that lead to food waste. It also highlights the importance of adopting correct behaviors to preserve blessings and enhance the quality of life for Gulf individuals. This test is part of the #Take_What_You_Need campaign, which the council initiated in response to the significant challenges faced by Gulf countries concerning food waste. Studies have shown that one-third of food produced for human consumption is wasted annually. This quantity could potentially feed 12% of the world’s population suffering from hunger. Recent studies indicate that over 60% of food waste in Gulf Cooperation Council countries occurs at the consumption stage, particularly in households. This is due to various factors, including over-preparation, improper purchasing, and storage practices. The issue of food loss and waste poses a major challenge, harming individuals in Gulf countries and stemming from a limited awareness of proper practices. The test primarily targets parents responsible for household affairs, as well as different age groups ranging from teenagers to adults. It was developed based on scientific principles and supervised by a team of experts from GCC countries. Educational messages and recommendations are tailored to the individual’s level of food waste awareness to ensure a higher level of awareness and create a tangible positive impact on society. The test consists of 10 questions designed to measure individuals’ awareness and behavior towards food waste. At the end of the test, participants receive practical advice on how to preserve resources and reduce food waste. This test represents an important step towards mitigating the negative impacts of food waste and achieving a higher level of sustainability in Gulf countries, contributing to improving health quality of life and preserving food resources for future generations. The Gulf Health Council activates the Gulf Week for Occupational Health and Safety

The Gulf Health Council for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf has activated the Gulf Week for Occupational Health and Safety from April 26 to 30, in collaboration with the Ministries of Health of the member states. This week is a significant health event in the Gulf, aimed at protecting workers from various occupational hazards and raising their awareness of the necessity to adhere to regulations and guidelines to avoid risks. The Council has launched a series of educational and awareness guidelines through its official social media accounts. These guidelines include advice on misconceptions about work stress, such as the belief that longer working hours mean higher productivity without health consequences. Studies show that working 55 hours or more per week is associated with a 35% increased risk of stroke compared to working 35-40 hours per week. The Council clarified that vacations are not the sole solution for dealing with job burnout, as research indicates that while vacations can reduce exhaustion levels, they do not address burnout. Therefore, sustainable solutions must be found to handle job burnout. Furthermore, the Council noted signs that may indicate you are experiencing job burnout, including psychological factors like feeling depressed at work, forgetfulness, and lack of concentration, becoming more critical and cynical in the workplace. Physical factors include frequent tension headaches, loss of appetite, acid reflux, fatigue, deteriorating sleep quality, weakened immune system, and increased susceptibility to illnesses. The Gulf Week for Occupational Health and Safety is part of the Gulf Health Council’s ongoing efforts to enhance awareness of the importance of occupational health and safety among the citizens of the council’s states. The Gulf Health Council activates the Gulf Oral and Dental Health Week

The Gulf Health Council for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf has activated the Gulf Week for Oral and Dental Health, in collaboration with the Ministries of Health of the member states. An awareness campaign was launched, including a series of educational and informative guidelines through its official accounts on social media platforms, aiming to enhance awareness about oral and dental health. These guidelines include tips on dental care, proper nutrition for oral health, how to prevent oral and dental diseases, and mentioned that diabetics might be more susceptible to gum diseases and oral health issues. Reducing sugar intake, regular brushing and flossing, and routine dental check-ups are factors that help in managing blood sugar levels. The guidelines also indicated that people who have undergone organ transplants might be prone to oral and dental problems due to the medications they take. It was also mentioned that treatments used by cancer patients could cause dry mouth and many dental health problems. Additionally, the Gulf Health Council highlighted four solutions for those with sensitive teeth, including using a soft toothbrush and fluoride-enriched products, and avoiding putting pressure on the teeth. The Council explained that there are five effective ways to deal with gum bleeding and teeth cleaning methods, using dental floss to remove food residues that lead to gum bleeding, avoiding smoking as it causes gum diseases and delays healing, visiting a dentist at least once a year, and using warm salt water to rinse the mouth to reduce inflammation, along with ways to stop gum bleeding using a piece of wet gauze. “The Gulf Oral and Dental Health Week comes as part of the continuous efforts of the Gulf Health Council to raise awareness about the importance of oral and dental health, and to encourage the citizens of the Council states to take the necessary steps to maintain better health and a higher quality of life.” For more information, you can visit the Your Health Guide platform at the following link: https://www.ghc.sa/yourhealthguide/
