Their Excellencies, the Ministers of Health of the Cooperation Council countries inaugurated, on Saturday, October 22, 2022 AD, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh, the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control (which was approved for establishment by the decision of the Supreme Council, at the forty-first session of the “Sultan Qaboos and Sheikh Sabah Summit” Al-Ula – January 2021.
This came during the eighth meeting of the Committee of Their Excellencies, Ministers of Health in the GCC countries, where the ministers discussed many issues of common interest and took appropriate decisions, foremost of which is the implementation of the decisions and directives of the Supreme Council in the health field, support and implementation of the joint future action plan, in addition to follow-up Implementation of the International Health Regulations (2005), support for cooperation projects in healthy cities, and organization of registration and classification of health specialties in the GCC countries, as well as decisions supporting the continuation of cooperation and coordination of work between the GCC countries, brotherly and friendly countries, and international cooperation in the health field.
On this occasion, His Excellency Mr. Sulaiman bin Saleh Al-Dakhil, Director General of the Health Council of the Cooperation Council, praised the efforts of the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (the current presidency),
In the inauguration of the “Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control”, as it is a regional center for public health that aims to enhance cooperation in the field of health to develop common policies and indicators and exchange knowledge and information between the countries of the Cooperation Council, and its purposeful role in assessing risks and activating programs and joint action plans, in addition to supporting and strengthening And the development of training, and the use of health data to develop indicators and joint Gulf research.
