The Gulf Health Council hosted its 99th Executive Board meeting on Thursday, September 12, 2024, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Executive Board members, under the chairmanship of Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani from Qatar, discussed several topics on the agenda concerning health services in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. These topics aligned with the Council’s main pillars: (Prevention – Awareness – Development – Health Support – Financial Sustainability).
Key discussions included evaluating the performance of the Unified Procurement Program and the development of the “Wafeed” Program. Additionally, the members reviewed the Council’s projects for the current year, strategic plans, future directions, and the budget for 2025.The Executive Board also discussed an agreement to expand the exchange and transplantation of donated organs among GCC countries.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Issa Al-Mansoori and Nasser Khalifa Al-Budoor from the United Arab Emirates, Dr. Lulwa Rashid Shwaiter and Dr. Samia Ali Bahram from the Kingdom of Bahrain, Dr. Hani Jokhdar, Dr. Abdullah Asiri, Marai Al-Qahtani, and Dr. Adel Al-Harif from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Saeed Al-Lamki and Dr. Ibrahim Al-Rashdi from the Sultanate of Oman, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani and Abdul Latif Ali Al-Abdullah from the State of Qatar, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi and Dr. Al-Munthir Al-Hassawi from the State of Kuwait, and Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Dahan from the Republic of Yemen.
