The Gulf Health Council has released an informative guide titled “Guide to Dealing with and Preventing Back Pain.” The guide aims to raise awareness among the public about the importance of preventing lower back pain and how to manage it by providing various interactive exercises that help reduce and prevent such pain and can be applied at any time and place.
The guide explains that most people will experience lower back pain at some point in their lives. Pain in this area is a common issue that affects individuals’ daily, professional, and social lives and can significantly impact their quality of life. However, by adopting a healthy lifestyle and engaging in the necessary exercises, it is possible to prevent and reduce it.
The guide begins by defining the concept of pain as a warning system from the nervous system, which varies from person to person. Pain comes in different forms, including acute pain that appears suddenly due to an injury or a medical condition, lasting for short periods, and chronic pain that persists for extended periods, exceeding three months.
The guide also presents some possible causes of lower back pain, such as stress, excessive weight, improper lifting of heavy objects, sitting or standing in uncomfortable positions for the back, as well as a lack of physical activity and sudden movements that strain the muscles and ligaments.
Among the diseases associated with back pain are conditions such as sciatica, arthritis, and other related conditions.
