The Gulf Health Council, represented by the Internal Audit Unit, organized the first Annual Internal Audit Forum. The event took place in May, the month dedicated to raising awareness about the internal audit profession. The forum spanned three days and was attended by the Director of the Internal Control Department at the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), along with the staff members of the department. The Head of the Internal Audit Unit at the GCC Standardization Organization and several members of the Internal Audit Department at the Saudi Ministry of Health were also present.
The forum featured a training program delivered by Mr. Mahmoud bin Abduljabbar Maki, the Head of the Internal Audit Unit at the Gulf Health Council. The program covered three main topics: planning, execution, and communication of internal audit tasks according to the professional standards of internal auditing. These topics were reinforced with practical applications based on best professional practices.
Mr. Maki emphasized the importance and role of the internal audit profession in adding value to audited entities by assessing governance systems, internal control systems, risk evaluation processes, and providing relevant recommendations to stakeholders, contributing to the achievement of their objectives.
The participants in the forum expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the Gulf Health Council for this initiative, which enriches knowledge and enhances the professional skills of internal auditors from the General Secretariat, affiliated entities, and collaborating organizations.
