:Job Summary

The Manager, Public Health Emergencies is responsible for the execution of day-to-day task and projects related to Public Health Emergencies Preparedness and Response functions of the Gulf-CDC

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage a team of Leads of the Emergency Preparedness and Response functions within the Public Health Emergencies Unit on the execution of the following activities:
• Emergency Preparedness:
• Establish in-country emergency protocols and response systems in collaboration with regional health systems and the Public Health Programs & Policies functions
• Collaborate with the Health Information and Public Health Programs & Polices units to identify disease or risk factor specific information essential to surveillance and analytics
• Collaborate with the Health Information unit working with external IT consultants to develop an early warning system for the Gulf region
• Emergency Response:
• Ensure situational awareness of public health threats with daily monitoring activities
• Establish and maintain regular “Gulf health threats” VTCs
• Identify emergencies and coordination with regional teams to respond in a timely manner
• Convene ad hoc, multi-country emergency task forces
• Rapidly execute of regional and in-country emergency protocols and response systems with emergency task forces
• Support the Director, Public Health Emergencies in working with the Technical Committee (including Country-Level Officers) and other Gulf-CDC units to ensure activities within Emergency Preparedness and Response are well aligned with the needs and expectations of the member states.
• Draft requests for proposals (RfPs) for outsourced projects and monitor quality and timeliness of deliverables in training and capability building.

: Qualifications and Experiences

• A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a Master’s degree or higher in the field of public health, emergency management, epidemiology, medicine or other related areas
• At least 5 years of professional experience acquired in positions relevant to the job description
• Nationality of one of the Gulf-CDC Member States
• Experience in managing small teams and/or in coordinating cross-organizational activities
• Proven people management experience and leadership
