The Gulf Health Council of the Cooperation Council countries launched an awareness campaign under the title “Something Loses Everything” to warn of the dangers of drugs of all kinds and their effects.
The campaign focuses on the effect of drugs on mental health, the feeling of constant anxiety and negative thinking in the absence of a drug, as 34 percent of depression cases among adolescents are due to drug addiction.
The council said that drugs are compounds that change a person’s mental, physical and psychological state, which affects the way the mind works and how the person feels and understands. This is what makes drugs dangerous and may be through smoking, inhaling, swallowing or injecting the compound. The types and forms of drugs differ, and they are often classified on the basis of their effect on the human nervous system, including sedative drugs, stimulants, and hallucinogens.
The council pointed out that all types of drugs (hashish, shabu, Captagon, and others) cause serious effects on human health, whether in the short or long term.
