The Gulf Health Council launched special awareness products to raise awareness about widespread cancer rumors in line with Gulf Cancer Week. It published a set of designs (infographics) highlighting positive messages about the reality of cancer, ways to deal with it, and breaking the barrier of fear associated with it.
The council focused on the importance of early diagnosis for any cancerous condition, as it helps reduce the rate of complications by half for some types. The council also explained the impact of rumors on cancer patients, as they increase anxiety and stress levels in cancer patients, delay diagnosis, and contribute to making ineffective treatment decisions.
The council also clarified the truth about deodorants, stating that there is no scientific evidence proving that they cause breast cancer. It also highlighted the fact that long-term exposure to smoking, even without personal use, increases the likelihood of lung cancer.
In activating the Gulf Cancer Week, the council emphasized the importance of undergoing screenings and not neglecting this aspect, as well as not exaggerating the fear of cancer. Many people, due to their intense fear of it, refer to it as the malignant disease.
